Encourage
Recall the story in 1 Samuel 30:6 — “David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” That’s exactly what we have to do for ourselves. You may experience the anger and disappointment of others. They might criticize you because they think you’re not trying hard enough. They might even blame you for your circumstances. That’s when unemployment becomes very difficult. But David’s strategy will work for you too. Turn your attention to verses like this one, and encourage yourself in the Lord. You are called to be joyful, because Almighty God is with you. See yourself surrounded with goodwill and favor! Sing praises to God, rejoice in His goodness, and stay in His Word! Soon you will feel His strength.
WORDS OF LIFE:
- I encourage myself when times are tough. I know the Lord is with me.
- By faith I believe that God rescues, defends and covers me.
- I am righteous in Christ and I know God is blessing me with favor.
Word of the Day
But let all those who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice; let them ever sing and shout for joy, because You make a covering over them and defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You and be in high spirits. For You, Lord, will bless the [uncompromisingly] righteous [him who is upright and in right standing with You]; as with a shield You will surround him with goodwill (pleasure and favor). Pray for my license to be released from the state they are holding it under false allegations. Have not found an attorney who is tough enough to fight for me.
